Terms of Use for Map


Please read and review these Terms of Use for Map (gTermsh) carefully before accessing or using Map data (gMaph) provided by this web site. By accessing or using this site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to the Terms. If you do not agree to the Terms, you may not access or use this web site.


Section 1: Map

Article 1: Copyright and Licensing of Map

1. You acknowledge that the ZENRIN DataCom Co., Ltd. (gZENRIN DataComh), ZENRIN Co., Ltd or the third parties who has a lawful right to grant licenses to them shall retain all right, including copyright and intellectual property right of the Map.

2. You shall have the right to use the Map solely for use on your computer. If you are an individual, you acknowledge that the Map is protected by the Japanese Copyright Law, the relevant international treaties and any other foreign Copyright Laws, and shall not be used beyond the scope of private use (e.g. printout etc. for non-profitable in limited purposes for personal, domestic and similar uses).

3. You shall acquire no rights or licenses in any right of the Map except for preceding paragraphs of this Article 1.

Article 2: Prohibitions

You shall be prohibited from doing as follows:

  1. Reproducing (including printing), copying, extracting, processing, modifying, adapting, transmitting or making any other use of any part of the Map irrespective of method except for the uses explicitly permitted in the preceding article; or
  2. Transferring, loaning, licensing, transmitting or otherwise allowing any third party to use any part of the Map, including any reproduction, printout, extraction or any other form in which the data may be used in whole or in part, whether with or without consideration and in any form or by any means.

Article 3: No Warranty

The Map shall be provided on an gAS-ISh basis without warranty (no express or implied warranties, including without limitation, no warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement of third-party rights), and you shall have no right to require the replacement or correction of the Map, fee refunds, etc. even if errors or other deficiencies are contained in the Map.

Article 4: Suspension of Provision of Map

1. You shall understand that any access to the whole or in part of Map may be temporarily interrupted, in the case of maintenance and /or inspection for the Map distribution server system (gSystemh).

2. In any of the following instances, the provision of the whole or in part of Map may be temporarily interrupted without your prior notification.

  1. Maintenance or inspection of the System is implemented in an emergency.
  2. Operation of the System becomes impossible following fire, power outage or other accident, earthquake, flood or other natural disaster, warfare, riot, labor dispute or other equivalent event.
  3. It is deemed that suspending the operation of the System for operational or technical reasons is unavoidably necessary.
  4. The System cannot be operated following the failure of the System.

3. Operation of the System and provision of Map may be ceased without your prior notification.

Section 2: Route planning service for motor vehicles, bicycles, trains, buses and pedestrians

Article 5: WARNING

IN THE INTERESTS OF THEIR OWN SAFETY, YOU SHALL PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING POINTS WHEN USING ROUTE PLANNING SERVICES FOR MOTOR VEHICLES, BICYCLES, TRAINS, BUSES AND PEDESTRIANS (gTHE SERVICESh).

  1. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOOK AT THE SCREEN OF A PC, PDA, MOBILE PHONE OR OTHER SUCH DEVICE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE OR MOTORBIKE, RIDING A BICYCLE OR WALKING. ALWAYS STOP IN A SAFE PLACE BEFORE CHECKING MAP.
  2. IF USING THE SERVICES AS PART OF A NAVIGATION SYSTEM INSIDE A MOTOR VEHICLE, EITHER ASK ANOTHER OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE TO ACCESS MAP, OR STOP THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE.
  3. INFORMATION ON TRAFFIC REGULATIONS, MAPS, CONGESTION, ROUTES, FEES, FACILITIES AND OTHER SUCH MATTERS IS FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY. ALWAYS GIVE FIRST PRIORITY TO ACTUAL CONDITIONS AND TRAFFIC RULES APPLICABLE TO THE SIDEWALK OR ROAD YOU ARE USING.
  4. MAP MAY NOT INCLUDE INFORMATION ON ALL HOSPITALS, FIRE STATIONS, POLICE DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER EMERGENCY FACILITIES. THERE MAY ALSO BE CASES IN WHICH DATA DIFFERS FROM REALITY, MEANING THAT IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION WITHIN THE ESTIMATED TIME. DO NOT USE THE SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF GUIDING YOURSELF TO EMERGENCY FACILITIES.

Section 3: Map usage records

Article 6: Accessing map usage records

1. If you use Map via this site, ZENRIN DataCom may compile and retain usage records and other information in relation to the relevant Map (gMap Usage Recordsh). For the purposes of these Terms, gMap Usage Recordsh refers to records of destination searches, location information obtained via GPS capabilities installed on devices used by you to access Map, and route data (and other data as appropriate, not including device identification numbers or any other data that could be used to identify specific individuals). It does not refer to any data that will enable specific individuals to be identified or distinguished. Map Usage Records may be used for business purposes by the company providing this site (including using Map Usage Records to compile statistics, and providing data to third parties).

2. ZENRIN DataCom shall manage Map Usage Records in an appropriate manner in accordance with its designated privacy policy, and shall ensure appropriate management by any third parties, as mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
